SPECIAL SESSION UPDATE: Abbott Continues to Side with Majority of Texans to Protect Privacy
AUSTIN – Gov. Greg Abbott announced today that Sen. Lois Kolkhorst and Rep. Ron Simmons will author legislation in the upcoming special session to protect the privacy of all Texans in restrooms, locker rooms, changing areas, and other intimate spaces.
Gov. Abbott named privacy one of the 20 items eligible for consideration in his call for a special session of the Texas Legislature to begin July 18.
Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values, had high praise for the Governor’s continual devotion to protecting privacy.
“We applaud Gov. Abbott for continuing to support an overwhelming majority of Texans. Keeping men and boys out of girls’ restrooms, showers, and locker rooms is common sense, yet such violations of privacy are becoming a growing problem we never imagined Texans would be facing. This problem must be solved before children head back to school to give parents and students the peace of mind they deserve.”
