Austin, TX – May 5, 2025: Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed the School Choice Bill (SB 2) this past Saturday with the leadership of Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Speaker of the Texas House Dustin Burrows.

The bill, Senate Bill (S.B.) 2, is authored by Senator Brandon Creighton, the chair of the Senate Education K-16 Committee. The bill will provide $11,500 for public school students with a disability, and $10,000 for children in public school who do not have a disability.

“This is an historic win for Texas parents and children, with the largest day-one launch in the country. Texan parents can now make the best decision for their children, based on their needs, regardless of their background. The leadership of Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and Speaker Dustin Burrows was pivotal in signing the School Choice Bill into law.”
