Release: Texas House Will Vote on “Women’s Bill of Rights”, HB 229 Today

Austin, TX – May 9, 2025: Today, the Texas House of Representatives will vote on a bill that accurately defines “male” and “female”, HB 229 by Representative Ellen Troxclair. The bill is known as the “Women’s Bill of Rights”, as its effect would result in protection of female designated sports, spaces, and opportunities.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values said:

“Establishing what we all know to be true: that there are only two sexes is the foundation for making sure that women’s sports, sororities, locker rooms, and sex separated spaces are protected. We support Representative Troxclair and the Texas Legislature’s efforts to advance HB 229”.

Similar bills this session include SB 240 and HB 239, which provide policies for keeping men out of women’s locker rooms, restrooms, and shelters. To learn more about these bills, you can visit https://protectwomensprivacytexas.com/.
