Breaking! Texas House Passes Women’s Bill of Rights

Austin, TX – May 11, 2025: Yesterday, the Texas House of Representatives voted 86-36 on HB 229 by Representative Ellen Troxclair, a bill that accurately defines “male” and “female”. The bill is known as the “Women’s Bill of Rights”, as its effect would result in protection of female designated sports, spaces, and opportunities.
Representative Ellen Troxclair, District 19, said:
“The rights of girls and women are non-negotiable, and their unique needs will not be ignored.
With the passage of the landmark Texas Women’s Bill of Rights in the House, girls and women who’ve lost privacy, safety, and opportunity now have real hope of the full protection of law.
For the first time, terms like ‘man’ and ‘woman’ in Texas law will have clear definitions—giving a foundation to our statute, and safeguards to our rights.
I’m deeply thankful to everyone who’s fought alongside me—my family, House District 19, my colleagues in the Texas House, Texas Values, national voices like Riley Gaines, and the bold leadership of President Trump.”
Representative Ellen Troxclair is a wife, mother, and small business owner in her second term serving District 19 in the Texas House of Representatives, honoring her constituents’ mandate for conservative, pro-Texas & pro-child policy. House District 19 encompasses Blanco, Burnet, Gillespie, Kendall, and a portion of Travis Counties.
Similar bills this session include SB 240 and HB 239, which provide policies for keeping men out of women’s locker rooms, restrooms, and shelters. To learn more about these bills, you can visit https://protectwomensprivacytexas.com/.
