Breaking! Texas House Passes Ten Commandments Bill

Austin, TX – May 21, 2025: Today, the Texas House of Representatives voted, by a bipartisan vote, 88-49 to approve the Texas Ten Commandments Bill (SB 10) by Senator Phil King and Rep. Candy Noble, to allow the display of the Ten Commandments in Texas public schools. SB 10 is now headed to the desk of Governor Greg Abbott.
Jonathan Saenz, President & Attorney for Texas Values released the following statement:
“This is a Texas-sized blessing that the Ten Commandments will now be displayed in all Texas public school classrooms, just like the Ten Commandments Monument at the Texas Capitol and in the U. S. Supreme Court. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott defended our Ten Commandments Monument at the U. S. Supreme Court, so we are confident he will sign this legislation into law when it reaches his desk soon.”
Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy for Texas Values released the following statement:
“We are grateful that Texas took a bold step to recognize the document that helped shaped our nation’s history and legal system more than perhaps any other, and to honor the heritage that it helped to shape. The Ten Commandments serve as a crucial reminder of the moral foundations of our laws, and of the true Lawgiver that our nation and state were founded upon.”
Texas Values was a leading organization that helped with the success of Senate Bill 10, testifying late at night and early in the morning at hearings and with public support of lawmakers on this measure. Texas Values has also been the leader in keeping the Ten Commandments’ historical and legal significance taught in Texas public schools for over two decades, at the State Board of Education meetings.
