Update! Still No Response from Austin ISD on Boy in Girls’ Restroom, Texas Values Hopes Investigation Continues

Austin, TX – May 27, 2026: Classes may end on Thursday in Austin ISD, but Texas Values is prepared to hold Austin ISD accountable for not complying with the Texas Women’s Privacy Act. Earlier this year, Texas Values President and Attorney Jonathan Saenz began legally representing a parent in Austin ISD who learned that a boy was using the girls’ restrooms and locker rooms at Austin High School. The parent has filed a formal complaint with the Texas Attorney’s General office and the investigation is ongoing. Nevertheless, it appears that Austin ISD has not corrected their actions or responded to the Attorney General’s office. Thus, Texas Values expects the investigation to continue into the summer.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values said:

“Austin ISD can run from the truth about boys using the girls’ restrooms, but they can no longer hide from it. Our team will continue to work with Texas Attorney General this summer to uncover the truth about what is happening in girls’ private spaces and hold Austin ISD accountable to the law. It is time that this Austin student and parent receive justice.”

In 2025, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 8, the Texas Women’s Privacy Act that keeps men out of women’s locker rooms, restrooms, and private spaces. The Texas Women’s Privacy Act went into effect in December 2025. Austin ISD reportedly was allowing a boy to use the girls’ restroom after the law went into effect.
