Texas Values Supports Louisiana Pro-Life Law Before SCOTUS This Week

Austin, Texas – The United States Supreme Court began hearing oral arguments on the June Medical Services LLC v. Russo case out of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals this week. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals includes opinions for the states of Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi so the outcome could directly influence the state of Texas. The case centers around Louisiana’s law requiring physicians who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a local hospital and if that law conflicts with the Supreme Court’s previous ruling on a case from Texas in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt.

Texas Values has signed onto an amicus brief supporting the Louisiana law with the US Supreme Court.

Jonathan Saenz, Attorney and President of Texas Values said “Allowing abortionists to perform highly dangerous and life altering procedures on women without being able to provide necessary medical care, especially when these procedures often result in medical emergencies, is irresponsible and unjust. We firmly support this common sense regulation that ensures women’s health and safety.”
