Texas Values Praises President Trump for Defending Religious Freedom and Prayer

Austin, Texas – Texas Values applauds President Trump’s announcement today, on Religious Freedom Day, protecting religious freedom with updates to the U.S. Department of Education’s Guidelines on prayer in public schools as well as 9 other rules pertaining to religious organizations. The new guidance makes it clear that students can read the Bible or pray at school, organize prayer groups, and express their religious beliefs in their assignments.

“President Trump and his administration have set the standard when it comes to protecting religious freedom, and we thank them for their leadership. These important protections for school students and religious organizations push back against the tide of religious discrimination,” said Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values.

Texas Values is the leading organization advocating for religious liberty in the state of Texas. Their track record includes numerous pieces of signed legislation, including the Save Chick-fil-A religious freedom law, also known as the First Amendment Defense Act, the Freedom to Serve Children Act, the Pastor Protection Law, and the Merry Christmas Texas Law.
