Texans to Share Stories on Why Privacy, SB 6 is Priority
UPDATED 4-12-17: Press conference will begin 30 mins after the House adjourns, estimated start time of press conference is 1 PM.
A panel of Texans who have had their safety and dignity threatened in intimate facilities such as restrooms, showers, and locker rooms will share their personal stories and speak out in favor of legislation that will protect privacy.
A press conference is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in the Speaker’s Press Conference Room in the Texas Capitol (Room 2W.6).
The press conference will also feature supporters of the Texas Privacy Act (SB 6) who are deeply concerned that recently enacted local and federal bathroom mandates has endangered their safety. Texas Values will have a list of participants available closer to the press conference. Guests booked so far represent the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, as well as rural Central, East, and North Texas.
NOTE: House of Representatives rules require that non-credentialed persons not be in the chamber until 30 minutes after adjournment. A backup time is set for 3 p.m. in the Speaker’s Conference Room. The press conference will begin as soon as House rules permit in either case. The blog on our website will contain any updates (txvalues.org/blog).
