Release: Supreme Court Update: Texas Leader Goes National

Newest Member of U. S. Supreme Court Bar, Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values
Austin, TX – January 9, 2026: Jonathan Saenz, President & Attorney for Texas Values was sworn in as an official member of the U. S. Supreme Court Bar Wednesday, December 3. All licensed attorneys in Texas are able to practice law in state court, but to be a lead attorney for cases at the U. S. Supreme Court, the highest court of the United States, requires a separate admissions process. Jonathan Saenz was nominated for the U. S. Supreme Court bar by Texas Values board member and First Liberty Institute President and Chief Counsel Kelly Shackelford who also serves on the Presidential Religious Liberty Commission.
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, the U. S. Supreme Court will hear Save Girls’ Sports cases from Idaho and West Virginia that could impact the rest of the nation with laws protecting women and girls from men competing in women’s sports.
Jonathan Saenz will be in the court room for the hearing while the Texas Values team is at the steps of the Supreme Court for a rally that begins at 10am that includes speakers who are good friends of Texas Values like Save Women’s Sports & Women’s Privacy Leaders Riley Gaines and Brooke Slusser from Texas. Texas Values led the efforts on passing Save Girls Sports (2021) and Save Women’s Sports (2023) laws in Texas. To learn more, visit SaveWomensSportsTexas.com.
Jonathan’s admission to the U. S. Supreme Court bar allows him to be present in the U. S. Supreme Court room during major constitutional cases before the U. S. Supreme Court and allows him to be among the select few lawyers to have firsthand exclusive insight and analysis to provide to the media, social media and supporters. Jonathan has been a part of a legal team representing clients before the U. S. Supreme Court. Texas Values frequently files friend of the court Amicus Briefs at the U. S. Supreme Court. Jonathan’s admission to the U. S. Supreme Court allows Texas Values to file its own cases before the U. S. Supreme Court when necessary as well, and allow Jonathan to be lead counsel.
After being sworn in, Jonathan was also present in the U. S. Supreme Court room as First Liberty Institute presented oral arguments for its client on a religious freedom case involving the religious rights of a street preacher from Mississippi.
Jonathan Saenz, President & Attorney for Texas Values released the following statement:
“I am grateful to Kelly Shackelford, President and Chief Counsel of First Liberty for submitting a formal request “motion” to nominate me for the U. S. Supreme Court bar at the highest court of the land. What an honor to be held in such a high regard. This will be a great asset to providing insights and analysis to the media and supporters alike.”
