Press Statement: Professional Women’s Athlete Takes Bold Stance for Women’s Sports, Texas Values Responds
Austin, TX. – July 23, 2026: This week, a new advocate for the Save Women’s Sports movement emerged when WNBA player Sophie Cunningham took stance on keeping men out women’s sports. Sophie, small forward for the professional basketball team the Indiana Fever, told ESPN sports that it was common sense that young women be protected from having to compete against biological men and that girls also should be protected in the locker room. Later in the week, Sophie Cunningham reaffirmed her comments when challenged by stating that “if Title IX were not protected, you wouldn’t hear about any women in sports.” Sophie joins a growing list of professional female athletes who support protecting women and girls in their sports.

“Sophie Cunningham’s remarks this week standing up for women and girls’ sports was right in the paint on the truth about biology and fairness. Sophie is right. Keeping men out of women’s sports is common sense and the U.S. Supreme Court just recently agreed with this truth as well. Many more professional women athletes are showing courage to speak out against men who try to steal the victory of female athletes and threaten them in the locker room. Sophie’s courage is the prefect assist to an issue that is a slam dunk in our culture.”
