Fifth Circuit: Texas Can Enforce Ban on Taxpayer Funding for Planned Parenthood

Our statement on Fifth Circuit ruling that Texas Can Enforce Ban on Tax Funding for Planned Parenthood:

“Planned Parenthood is radioactive and this recent court decision is just further proof that the taxpayers have had enough. Planned Parenthood’s entitlement attitude has no place in Texas.” said Jonathan Saenz, Attorney and Director of Legislative Affairs of Liberty Institute. “Texas has plenty of clinics and health care providers that can better serve Texas women without Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry weighing them down.”

In 2011, state lawmakers passed, with the strong support of Liberty Institute and other pro-life organizations, legislation to ban taxpayers dollars going to abortion providers and their affiliates.  The law was signed by Governor Perry in July 2011.
