Dept. of Justice: Stop Targeting Churches; Issues Warning To Local Governments

Austin, Texas – Statement from Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values on DOJ Statement on Religious Liberty Protections During COVID-19 Pandemic:

“We applaud Attorney General Barr for this strong statement in support of church and religious freedom that is very similar to the guidance from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Churches are essential in serving their communities during this crisis, they shouldn’t be punished for “drive-in services” in parking lots while we actively promote and allow such activity for other businesses.”

Some churches and pastors were fined and approached by law enforcement for activity in the church parking lot over the Easter weekend with people staying inside their cars.
