Breaking! Texas Women’s Privacy Act Passed in the Texas Senate 20-11

Austin, TX – April 23, 2025: Today, the Texas Senate heard debate on SB 240, Texas Women’s Privacy Act, and passed the bill to engrossment 20-11.
SB 240 ensures women are safe in their bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, and domestic abuse shelters.
Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values said:
“The vote today in the Senate was a landmark vote for protecting women and girls in our state. No woman should have to be forced to share a vulnerable private space with a man and be deprived of her dignity. Private spaces are separated based on sex for a reason and our state should keep it that way”.
This bill was testified in favor of by key witnesses like Brooke Slusser, a Texas athlete, who was forced to share a locker room and apartment with a man without her knowledge and a Texas Values team member, who was startled when she discovered a man in the women’s restroom at the Texas Capitol, after testifying on a bill.
