Breaking! Gov. Greg Abbott Signs Pro-Life Bill into Law (SCR 19) 

Austin, TX – June 3, 2025: Today, Governor Greg Abbott signed SCR 19 into law. SCR 19, by Senator Tan Parker / Representative Caroline Harris Davila, authorizes the Texas State Preservation Board to approve the construction of a “Texas Life Monument” at the State Capitol Complex, specifically on a site outside of the historic Capitol grounds as a way of celebrating the miracle of life, rejecting abortion. The monument will be the same as the National Life Monument in Washington, D.C. (click here for details). Sculpted by artist Timothy Schmalz, the bronze sculpture depicts a mother with an unborn child cradled in a world-shaped womb. The monument also communicates that Texas is pro-life, and Texas will turn the page and move forward for life, leaving behind the history of abortion in Texas.

Pro-life leader Jonathan Saenz and attorney and president for Texas Values said:

“The Life Monument makes it clear that Texas is pro-life! The stain and history of abortion in our state is in the past, and the Life Monument shows we are turning the page away from days when over 50,000 babies a year lost their life to abortion in Texas.
