Breaking: Gov. Abbott to Sign Pro-Life Bill at Texas Values Policy Event

AUSTIN, TexasTexas Governor Greg Abbott has announced he will host a bill signing ceremony for S.B.4, a new pro-life law,  at the Texas Values 4th Annual Faith, Family, and Freedom Policy Forum event where he is scheduled to speak at 3:30 p.m on Friday, September 24th.  SB 4, called the” No Mail Order Abortions” Bill, establishes common sense safety regulations for chemical abortion pills in Texas, including prohibiting these dangerous drugs from being sent through the mail. SB 4 passed with bipartisan support including bill author Democrat Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr.

Gov. Abbott will host the ceremonial bill signing event for SB 4 at Great Hill Baptist Church in Austin, Texas (the site of the Texas Values policy event), and will be joined by state legislators and representatives, and advocates from other pro-life organizations.

Jonathan Saenz, president and attorney for Texas Values released the following statement:

“Watching Gov. Greg Abbott sign a pro-life law in person will be an amazing highlight for this premiere faith, family and freedom Texas Values policy event and will show that Texans values life. Stopping mail order abortion pills will protect women from harm and exploitation by sex traffickers and others. We are excited to see Texas take this important step.”

SB 4 is crucial as we are seeing an increase in these types of abortions worldwide and especially here in Texas.During the pandemic, an order by the governor to halt elective surgeries eliminated access to abortion in Texas for a certain amount of time. However, abortion advocates relied on alternatives for surgical and in-patient abortions by pushing the use of mail order chemical abortion pills for women.
