BREAKING! Victory at Texas Supreme Court for Detransitioner Soren Aldaco

Austin, TX – June 26, 2026: The Texas Supreme Court today unanimously reversed a lower court decision that had dismissed detransitioner Soren Aldaco’s claims against her former counselor as time-barred. The Court held that Aldaco’s lawsuit may proceed, allowing her claims to be decided on their merits rather than dismissed on a procedural statute-of-limitations argument.

Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy for Texas Values, released the following statement:

“For too long, detransitioners have been told it’s too late to seek justice. Today’s decision rejects that argument. The Texas Supreme Court has made it clear that gender transition counselors cannot avoid accountability simply by relying on an overly narrow interpretation of the statute of limitations. We are grateful that Soren will finally have the opportunity to present her case and seek the justice she deserves.”

Texas Values was the leading law and policy organization that advocated for the passage of SB 14, banning child gender modification in Texas. To learn more about SB 14 in Texas, please visit StopChildGenderModification.com.
