We need your immediate prayers and financial support for our Texas Supreme Court Case
Tomorrow morning, March 1st, the Texas Values legal team will be arguing our monumental same-sex benefits case, Pidgeon v. Turner, before the Texas Supreme Court. Our lead attorney for this case is Jonathan Mitchell, former law clerk to the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and former Solicitor General of the State of Texas.
Our team needs your immediate prayers and financial support for this case. Help us reach our goal to raise $10,000 online by the end of February – MIDNIGHT TONIGHT – to support this important case!
Our case goes back to 2014, when Houston’s former mayor Annise Parker threw our state’s constitution to the wind, recognizing same-sex “marriages” from other states in an illegal effort to give taxpayer funded benefits to the partners of homosexual employees. Local taxpayers were so outraged at being forced to subsidize “gay marriage” that they filed suit.
We have incurred costs in excess of $50,000 since we began fighting this case on behalf of taxpayers Larry Hicks and Pastor Jack Pidgeon, free of charge, in 2014, and we are very likely to incur thousands more as we move forward to hold government officials accountable and seek justice for taxpayers.
I am not aware of any other case like this across the country, and we believe it has the potential to establish the important precedent of maintaining the integrity of tax dollars and limit the damage of the egregious U.S. Supreme Court Obergefell marriage decision. You may recall that Governor Abbott, Attorney General Paxton, and Lt. Governor Patrick together filed a joint brief in support of our work on this case – that’s how important this case is for Texas!
It is essential that we win this case to defend what’s left of our state’s marriage laws, our religious freedom, and taxpayers’ rights to not be forced by government to fund illegal same-sex benefits.
We are committed to continuing to fight on this case regardless of the Texas Supreme Court’s decision, but we need your immediate support to help fund this case.
Whatever amount you can give, please act today so that we can limit the damage done by activist courts and stand for our state’s marriage laws. Please be in fervent prayer for a victory at the Texas Supreme Court in this case.
