VICTORY AGAIN! Texas Stops Biden’s Radical Title IX Re-write, Protecting All Texas Girls
Amarillo, TX – July 12, 2024: Today, a federal district judge enjoined, in the entire state of Texas, the U.S. Department of Education’s rewrite of Title IX that redefines “sex” to include “gender identity”. This court decision was handed down less than 24 hours after a federal court judge in Fort Worth ruled that Carroll ISD in Southlake, Texas will not have to adopt the Biden Administration’s new rule on Title IX. This ruling will apply to the over 1,200 school districts in the state of Texas. School districts will not be forced to adopt the new re-write of Title IX.
Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values said:
“Texas courts have given the Biden Administration a double-punch, knock-out victory for our girls in Texas. The new Title IX rule was clearly erroneous and would have deprived women and girls in our state civil rights protections that have been in place for over 50 years. Today, the federal government learned an important lesson: you don’t mess with Texas girls.”
Texas Values was the leading organization who helped pass the Save Girls’ Sports Law in 2021 that applies to students in K-12 and the Save Women’s Sports Law in 2023. Texas Values has worked closely with Carroll ISD on issues related to school policy and helped voice parents’ and students’ concerns about the Title IX rewrite at a press conference on June 24. Texas Values was also amicus in the lawsuit Carroll ISD filed against the Biden administration. Texas Values has also lead the efforts in passing legislation to stop the gender modification of children and to stop Planned Parenthood resources in Texas public schools.
