VA Admits to Censoring Religious Messages in Christmas Cards

Students at Grace Academy (in the Dallas area) got an unwelcome Christmas surprise last week when their hand-written Christmas cards to veterans at the VA Hospital in Dallas were banned because the cards included phrases “Merry Christmas” and “God Bless You.”

Our friends at Liberty Institute have sent a demand letter to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs asking them to end their blatant religious discrimination and have subsequently found out that the VA is censoring religious messages in cards as part of a nationwide policy.

Watch Texas Values president Jonathan Saenz respond to this blatant religious discrimination in an interview with Fox 7 (Austin):

This is not the first time that the VA, under the Obama Administration, has shown hostility to First Amendment protected religious expression.

Stay tuned to our Texas Values Blog for updates on this troubling story.
