Unborn Child’s Death in Immigrant Abortion Case ‘Reminds Us of the Importance of Every Life’

Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz expresses his condolences that an unborn child has died as the result of an abortion this morning early this morning.

A federal appeals court temporarily halted an abortion request by a 17-year-old in-custody illegal immigrant Thursday evening after a federal judge ordered immigration officials to accommodate her wishes to engage in the life-ending procedure. Many believed this illegal immigrant’s request was forcing taxpayer dollars to be used by the federal government to facilitate an abortion.

Several state and national leaders have intervened in an attempt to save the unborn child, including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Trump Administration officials. However, this was all up-ended by the decision of a Washington D.C. circuit judge to allow the abortion to go through. The abortion reportedly took place around 4 a.m. today.

Saenz said:

“It is heartbreaking to find out this morning that the unborn child’s life has ended when it certainly appeared there was an opportunity to preserve life. We were hopeful that the U.S. Department of Justice would file a brief requesting emergency relief from the U.S. Supreme Court. We are not aware of any such emergency relief being requested. Unfortunately, we know that there are thousands of abortions that are performed every day by groups like Planned Parenthood. But having so much detailed awareness of this specific situation reminds us of the importance of every life. We offer prayers for the mother and child.”
