U.S. Department of Justice Announces Religious Liberty Task Force

Bible and constitution (620-240)

Earlier this week, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the creation of a Religious Liberty Task Force, and if you listened to what was reported in the media and by LGBT activists you might think the world was about to end.

What is the reality of the situation?

Well, as Sessions said “We have gotten to the point where courts have held that morality cannot be a basis for law; where ministers are fearful to affirm, as they understand it, holy writ from the pulpit; and where one group can actively target religious groups by labeling them a “hate group” on the basis of their sincerely held religious beliefs.” He further stated, “Religious Americans are no longer an afterthought.”

The Task Force “will continue the Department’s ongoing work to implement the Religious Liberty Memorandum and…will also consider new initiatives that will further the Department’s work to protect and promote religious liberty.”

The goal is simply to ensure religious liberty protections are upheld in court, through regulations and policy, and in how the government conducts operations.

We at Texas Values think this is another strong step in the right direction by the Trump Administration in protecting the religious rights of Americans.

The reaction of those in the media only confirms the growing attacks many Americans of faith felt under the previous administration.
