Texas Values Responds to Somerset ISD complaint from American Humanist Association

In light of news that Somerset Independent School District has removed a display after a complaint from the American Humanist Association, Texas Values issued the following statement.

Jonathan Saenz, Attorney and President of Texas Values said: “This is just another example of the war on Christmas that’s fueled by some anti-religious groups like the American Humanist Association. It’s very important for school officials to know there is a lot of protection in the law for these types of displays, and in fact, the Merry Christmas Texas Law specifically protects displays of Christmas Trees or nativities. We invite the school district and all Texans to learn more at MerryChristmasTexas.com”

The display in question is a poster on a wall which had been up since the start of the school year, and contained the words “In the beginning God created…” above a picture of the earth with different colored hands circling it. A Christmas tree was placed under the poster.
