Texas Values Praises Forney City Council’s Decision to Display ‘In God We Trust’

The Forney City Council has unanimously approved a resolution to place ‘In God We Trust’ on city vehicles, including police and fire department vehicles. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton released an official Attorney General Opinion last year clarifying the legality of the use of ‘In God We Trust’ on police cars, after the Childress Police Department came under attack from the Freedom from Religion Foundation for displaying ‘In God We Trust’ on patrol vehicles. The decals with our nation’s motto will be donated by a local Forney business and will not cost any taxpayer dollars.

“We proudly stand behind brave Texas first responders, and we praise the Forney City Council for their decision to display ‘In God We Trust’ on emergency vehicles. The frivolous legal threats from out of state groups that oppose religious freedom should continue to be ignored. As our Attorney General Ken Paxton has made clear, it is constitutional to display “In God We Trust’ on these government vehicles. In Texas, we are proud that our nation was founded on a shared trust in God, and we firmly stand with Texas police officers, firemen, and city officials who want to recognize our nation’s motto.”

Since the original attack on the Childress Police Department by the Freedom from Religious Foundation in October 2015, numerous Texas cities and counties have added the nation’s motto to police and fire department vehicles, including: Ennis, North Richland Hills, Eastland, Dublin, Early, Bowie, Graham, Prosper, Gunter, Van Alstyne, Katy and Kendall, Collin, Parker, Hood, Hunt, McLennan, and Stephens counties.
