Texas Shines Light on Planned Parenthood
In the past few weeks, the Center for Medical Progress has posted horrific video footage of Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of baby body parts. A video this week shows a Planned Parenthood VP stating babies may come out intact and ends with a haunting exclamation from the doctor about the aborted child, “It’s a boy!”
Public outcry against this barbaric practice has spurred investigations, rallies, and an awakening to the horrors of abortion. Texas Values has been on the ground for these events and we want to update you on what’s been happening:
Women Betrayed Rally in Texas:
Texas Values was in attendance Tuesday for the Women Betrayed rallies held in Houston and Austin and were grateful for the rallies held in Dallas/Ft. Worth, and in San Antonio. Our state outreach coordinator, Nicole Hudgens, and intern, Marc Dib, joined Texas Right to Life and nearly four hundred Houstonians calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood for their betrayal to women and barbaric practices. Our Director of Operations, David Walls joined hundreds gathered here in Austin at the Capitol steps.
Senate Health & Human Services Committee Hearing:
Texas Values was in attendance yesterday at the Senate Health and Human Services hearing to investigate the allegations from the recent videos. Among those who testified today were Attorney General Ken Paxton and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services officials, and pro-life advocates.
Attorney General Ken Paxton made it clear that his office “will leave no stone unturned” in his ongoing investigation into Planned Parenthood and stated his office also has video evidence against the abortion provider.
The Department of Health and Human Services stated that they have conducted 17 complaint-based inspections last year at abortion clinics and have received complaints on tissue disposal of aborted children. Members from Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast and Planned Parenthood Greater Texas were invited multiple times to give their testimony at the hearing, but those invitations were met with silence.
John Seago of Texas Right to Life stated that they have identified 6 potential laws in the videos that Planned Parenthood may have broken and pointed out that 3 Texas Planned Parenthood clinics are mentioned in the full-length videos. Carol Everett, a former abortion clinic owner, described Planned Parenthood’s manipulations of records and how abortionists even harvest organs while the child is alive. Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood worker, explained how the children were dismembered and how clinic workers were given financial incentives to convince clients to donate the baby parts.
