Texas Judge Allows Ban On Planned Parenthood Funds

Update 1-11-13: A State District Judge has now ruled against Planned Parenthood, denying another request for a temporary injunction, saying that the nation’s largest abortion provider was likely to lose at trial.  Despite the fact the organization recently released its latest annual report and revealed it had performed a record 333,964 abortions aided by $542.4 million of your tax dollars, Planned Parenthood has continue to attack the state of Texas and its taxpayers in an attempt to force Texas taxpayers to fund the organization. The Texas Legislature passed a ban on tax dollars going to abortion providers and their affiliates in the 2011 legislative session.

On Monday of this week, a Texas judge denied Planned Parenthood’s request for a temporary restraining order to stay in the Texas Women’s Health Program, allowing Texas to withhold taxpayer funds to the nation’s largest abortion provider.

In October, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals denied an appeal to reconsider its earlier ruling that upheld the right of Texas to withhold taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood.
