SB 6 Supporters Call For Protecting Privacy in Video Series
“It makes me feel very, very uncomfortable,” Shiloh, a fourth grader, said about her elementary school’s recent bathroom policy, which now allows boys into the girls’ restroom.
Shiloh appeared with her father in the first of a series of videos featuring Texans who are in support of Senate Bill 6, the Texas Privacy Act.
“We were very frustrated to find out that the administration was supporting little boys sharing a bathroom with little girls,” the father said of the Dripping Springs ISD intimate facilities policy that was not discussed publicly beforehand nor vetted by district taxpayers.
Forthcoming videos produced by Texas Values will feature similar testimonials from Texans calling on their legislators to vote for SB 6, which will protect privacy, safety, and dignity in restrooms, locker rooms, and changing areas in public schools and government buildings.
The testimonial videos will be shared on the Texas Values Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/TexasValues) in advance of a legislative hearing for the bill set for Tuesday, March 7, in the Senate State Affairs committee.
The Texas Privacy Act, SB 6, protects the dignity and privacy of all Texans in intimate facilities in public schools and government buildings. The bill exempts private businesses from local government laws dictating restroom, locker room, and changing area policies. Support continues to grow including large and statewide organizations such as Concerned Women of America of Texas, Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, Texas Eagle Forum, Northeast Tarrant Tea Party, Stand for Fort Worth, the Texas Pastor Council, and many more.
