RELEASE: SB 12 Drag Queen Show Ban for Children Bill Passes Texas House

Austin, TX – May 19, 2023: The Stop Drag Queen Shows for Kids Bill – SB 12 by Texas Senator Bryan Hughes and Representative James Frank – was voted on in the Texas House and passed second reading with an 88-42 bipartisan vote today! This bill will protect children from sexually oriented performances such as drag queen shows.

“We are grateful to Rep. Shaheen and Sen. Hughes for their leadership on this pro-family legislation. SB 12 just states what should already be commonsense: children should not be allowed at sexually explicit adult performances such as drag shows. This constant hypersexualization of our children needs to stop and we now have a tool in the toolbox.”
