Director of Operations
Position Summary:
The Director of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring that Texas Values runs efficiently and effectively. This person oversees internal operations & administration, works with all departments to support achieving the mission (“Faith, Family, Freedom”), ensures compliance, optimizes systems and processes, and plays a strategic role in implementing organizational plans.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership & Strategy

- Translate the board & executive leadership’s strategic goals into operational objectives.
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics (financial, operational, programmatic) to ensure progress toward goals.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, or process improvements across operations.
2. Financial Management & Budgeting
-
- Partner with Finance to prepare the annual budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure operations stay within budget.
- Oversee financial systems related to operations (e.g., payment of vendors, payroll, expense management).
- Assist with preparation/review of financial reports, audits, and ensure compliance with accounting best practices.
3. Human Resources & Staff Management

- Lead HR-related operations: hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, benefit administration, staff policies & employee handbook.
- Maintain personnel records, ensure legal compliance (state/federal laws) in all HR matters.
- Support staff development, retention, and foster a positive culture aligned with the organization’s values.
4. Systems, Processes & Infrastructure

- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for administrative workflows across departments.
- Oversee office management: facilities, equipment, IT infrastructure, vendor contracts.
- Oversee technology systems that support operations (software tools, databases, communication & collaboration platforms).
5. Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., nonprofit registration, charitable solicitation, employment law).
- Maintain insurance, legal contracts, grants compliance.
- Identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans.
6. Cross-Department Collaboration

- Work closely with Development, Communications, Advocacy, and Programs teams to support their operational needs.
- Ensure resource allocation aligns with programmatic priorities.
- Support the fundraising team with logistical/operational needs (events, donor stewardship, vendor coordination).
7. Governance & Board Support

- Assist with preparation of materials, reporting, or logistics for Board of Directors meetings.
- Ensure operational transparency, documentation, and timely reporting to the board and senior leadership.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration or related field); Master’s preferred.
- Several years (5-10+) of progressively responsible operations or administrative leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit financials, budgets, accounting processes, audits.
- Experience with human resources management, including employment law, hiring, benefits, performance management.
- Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to handlemultiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills — written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Proficiency with administrative software, databases, collaboration tools, and office management systems.
- Ability to lead, manage, and motivate teams, including supervising admin / operations staff.
- Strong ethical compass; alignment with Texas Values’ mission, including faith and family values; comfort working in a values-driven organization.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position.
- Based in Austin, Texas headquarters; may require some travel around Texas for events, regional work, etc.
- Occasional evening or weekend work tied to events or urgent operational needs.
What Success Looks Like in 12 Months:
- Operational systems and SOPs documented, streamlined, enabling smoother workflow and fewer bottlenecks.
- Reliable financial reporting and budgeting processes in place; operational budget variance within acceptable limits.
- Human Resources policies implemented or refined; improved staff onboarding, retention, performance review processes.
- Office / facilities / IT infrastructure functioning well, vendors managed, cost efficiencies achieved.
- Operations supporting program growth and fundraising without significant operational issues.

Development Director
Essential Job Functions
- Implement and execute annual fundraising plan to meet fundraising goals
- Meet regularly with and manage portfolio of higher-level donors
- Provide leadership to development team
- Prepare and present regular reports on progress towards fundraising goals
- Assist in planning and execution for fundraising related special events
- Assist in grant writing and identification of new grant opportunities
- Generate donor communications, newsletters, and annual report
- Network and maintain regular correspondence with key donors
Qualifications/Skills
- Applied understanding of basic fundraising principles and development best practices
- Strong prospect identification and qualification skills
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading ability
- Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Database and spreadsheet proficiency
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with online fundraising, email marketing, and internet research
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum three (3) years of nonprofit fundraising experience
- Previous management experience a plus
- Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and securing major gifts

Internship Opportunities
Texas Values is seeking motivated university, graduate, and law school students to intern in our Austin office (or remotely with special approval) who have a passion to promote biblical values and have the desire to learn more about law, public policy, and the political process in Texas. Responsibilities of Interns:
- Support senior staff in the day-to-day operations of the Austin office
- Complete various research and special projects
- Manage various data entry projects
- Assist with web and social media outlets
- Deliver information to offices at the Texas Capitol
Qualifications:
- Committed to the Texas Values mission and vision
- Available to work 10 – 20 hours/week around class schedule at our Austin office (or remotely by approval)
- Self-motivated and highly organized individual
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
