House Passes Government Healthcare; Senate In No Hurry to Concur

On Saturday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a sweeping government takeover of healthcare, by a vote of 220-215.  All House Republicans voted against the bill, except for one, Rep, Joseph Cao, of Louisiana.  39 Democrats voted against the bill.

All Texas House Democrats voted in favor of the bill, except for Rep. Chet Edwards.  Some of the previously undecided Democrats were swayed by President Obama and amendments placing some restrictions on taxpayer funded abortions, clearly the way for them to support the bill, according to at least one news source. http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/politics/69495567.html
