Homosexual Couples File Suit to Strike Down Texas Constitution on Marriage

Austin, TX, November 26, 2013 – This week, according to reports, homosexual advocates filed a federal lawsuit in Texas seeking to strike down Texas’ Constitution that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. In 2005, Texas voters approved this language by a vote of 76.2%.

In response, Jonathan Saenz, attorney and president of Texas Values, released the following statement:

“Texas law is absolutely clear that same sex marriage is illegal. This is a frivolous lawsuit. The only way that homosexual advocates win this case is if federal judges abuse their power, legislate from the bench and violate nearly every principle of law and policy in our state and country. This is Texas, not the White House. Our attorney general will defend our law and our Constitution, vigorously. I expect Texas to win with an exclamation point.”
