Give From Your IRA
If you’re 70 1/2 or older, you can make a direct, tax-free transfer to Texas Values from your IRA to help preserve biblical values in Texas. This is known as a Charitable IRA Rollover or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). With this option:
- You can avoid paying federal income taxes on your IRA distribution.
- Your tax benefit does not rely on using a charitable deduction, so it can be even. more advantageous for those who do not itemize.
- You can make a gift of up to $100,000 per year.
- If you are 72 and must take a required minimum distribution (RMD), your gift can satisfy all or part of that requirement.
To make this gift, contact your IRA administrator to request the correct form, and ensure they receive it before processing your RMD to have it count for this tax year. Or you can fill out this useful letter template and send it to your plan administrator. If you have any questions or need any assistance with this beneficial giving option, please contact us at legacy@txvalues.org or (512) 478-2220.
Make a Gift of Stock
By making a gift of appreciated securities like stock or mutual funds, you can empower vulnerable communities to improve their access to food, income, and markets while receiving added tax savings.
When you give stock that you have held for more than one year to Texas Values, you can:
- Receive a charitable deduction equal to the fair market value
- Avoid paying capital gains taxes on the appreciation.
For supporters who have stock that they purchased years ago or that has greatly increased in value, this option can mean a significant reduction in taxes that they would otherwise owe upon sale.
To make a gift of stock, use the information below. Please email the details of your gift (name of stock, number of shares, and your name) to our Donor Services team at legacy@txvalues.org.

Recommend a Grant from Your Donor-Advised Fund
If you already have a donor-advised fund (DAF), then recommending a grant to Texas Values could be your best option for preserving and advancing a culture of family values in the state of Texas.
Because the funds are already set aside for charity, recommending a grant from your DAF will not affect your current disposable income. In addition, you likely could make an even greater impact with a grant from your DAF, as the funds you contributed to it have been growing tax-free.
Simply contact your DAF custodian to recommend a grant to Texas Values today, or if your DAF is with Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or the BNY Mellon Charitable Gift Fund, you can make a gift recommendation in just a few steps here.
