BREAKING: Texas Supreme Upholds Ban on Child Gender Modification

Austin, TX – June 28, 2024: The Texas Supreme Court this morning ruled in Texas v. Loe, that Senate Bill 14, the law passed by the Texas Legislature in 2023 to protect children from harmful gender treatments, is constitutional.  This is a significant victory for Texas children, protecting them from puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and the cutting off of healthy body parts, all of which are irreversible.

Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy for Texas Values, released the following statement:

“No child deserves a false sense of hope from the unscientific idea that they are not really the sex they are born.  Today, the Texas Supreme Court agrees! This decision affirms what we already know, that doctors cannot mutilate children in the name of healthcare.”

Texas Values was the leading law and policy organization that advocated for the passage of SB 14. Texas Values also wrote a legal amicus brief and provided legal support for the law at the Texas Supreme Court.
