BREAKING! Female Athletes and Texas Values Hold Virtual Press Event on NCAA Lawsuit
Austin, TX — April 9, 2024: Today, Texas Values, along with Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS), Frontline Policy (Georgia), and one of the female athletes who is suing the NCAA, Katie Blakenship, will be holding a virtual Facebook Live press event to discuss the current lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). In March, 16 female athletes, which includes NCAA swimming champion Riley Gaines, filed a lawsuit against the NCAA for forcing female athletes to compete against male athletes and share locker rooms and showers with male athletes. The lawsuit was filed in Atlanta, Georgia and since then, has gained attention from the national media.
Yesterday, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that they will have an official policy that will not allow men to compete in women’s college sports. Our press event will discuss the lawsuit, the breaking news from NAIA, and include a one-on-one interview with one of the female athlete plaintiffs.
