Breaking! Carroll ISD, First School Board in the Nation to Sue the Biden Administration to Protect Texas Girls

Austin, Texas — May 21, 2024: Today, the Carroll Independent School District, located in Southlake, Texas, became the first school district in Texas and the United States to sue the Biden Administration for their rewrite of Title IX, that attacks the rights and freedom of girls in the state of Texas. Carroll ISD has a well-known history of standing up for parental rights and First Amendment rights. In 2020, Texas Values worked with parents and families in Carroll ISD to stop a LGBT-focused Cultural Competence Action Plan (CCAP) and has continued to provide support to parents with Carroll ISD since that victory.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values said:

“Families in Southlake, Texas (Carroll ISD) want the Biden administration to know that they have gone too far by forcing school districts to accept the lie that “sex” can be redefined to have over 50 definitions and not just “male” and “female”. President Biden may invite men like Dylan Mulvaney to wear dresses to the White House, but these men and boys don’t belong in girls’ sports or private spaces in Texas schools. Today, Carroll ISD is telling the Department of Education you don’t mess with Texas girls!”

Texas Values was the leading organization to advance legislation (HB 23) to protect girls in K-12 UIL sanctioned sports from being forced to compete against boys. To learn about this law that was signed by Governor Abbott in 2021, please visit SaveWomensSportsTexas.com.

Texas Values has also created a series to educate parents and families in Texas about the changes to Title IX in a series, “5 Things to Know About Title IX”.  To read more about the Department of Education’s rewrite of Title IX, visit txvalues.org.
