RELEASE: Austin City Council to Consider Trans Sanctuary Resolution Today

Austin, Texas — May 2, 2024: Today, five Austin City Council members are proposing a resolution on the council agenda to flagrantly ignore current state law by refusing to use city resources to enforce Senate Bill (SB) 14, a bill passed last legislative to protect Texas children from irreversible medical harm from gender transition interventions. Texas Values was a leading organization supporting SB 14’s passage during the 88th Texas Legislature.

Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy for Texas Values released the following statement:

“It is clear that Austin City Council loves empty, meaningless virtue signaling more than the well-being of its citizens. The science shows, beyond question, that gender interventions are harmful to children of all ages. This resolution proposed by the city council is plainly unlawful and divorced from reality.”
