Breaking! Odessa City Council Finalizes Protections for Women and Girls!

Odessa, TX – November 12, 2024: Odessa City Council passed a new city ordinance today protecting the safety and privacy of women and girls in locker rooms and restroom facilities by a final vote of 5-1.

Texas Values Policy Director Jonathan Covey, who testified in support at today’s meeting, made the following statement:

“We applaud the courage and proactive leadership shown by the city council in protecting the safety and privacy of women and girls. Odessa is leading the way and others will follow.”

The city council members acted last month to tentatively approve the ordinance by a vote of 5-2 after testimony from Texas Values and members of the Odessa community in support of the ordinance.

Texas Values has been the leading organization, for over a decade, in protecting the safety and privacy of women and girls in locker rooms and restroom facilities.
