As a strong friend of Texas Values, we need your help in the Arlington, Texas area to defeat a woke LGBT city ordinance at the Arlington City Council. We need you to email and call the city council and prepare to come to the meeting/vote on this issue next Tuesday, December 9th at 6:30pm to let your voice be heard. The council meets at Arlington City Hall located at 101 West Abram St. in Arlington, Texas. UPDATE: Last week, we told you that the Arlington City Council was considering two options to take action on a woke LGBT city ordinance. We support Option #2, but it appears the Arlington City Council is going with Option #1, to appease the LGBT crowd. Today, we reached out to our Trump Administration contacts, alerting them to this very serious matter and it is our belief and expectation that we will receive a response by Monday. The LGBT ordinance is item 12.2 on the city council agenda. You can also read the proposed city ordinance here. As a reminder the options being considered by the city council were: Option #1: The City Council reinstates the anti-discrimination ordinance with the LGBT language, but includes some type of disclaimer hoping to safeguard themselves from losing federal funding. Texas Values is opposed to Option #1. Option #2: Texas Values’ position is that Arlington City Council should vote to reinstate the anti-discrimination ordinance without the words “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” (SOGI).*******************************************************************************This harmful LGBT language must be removed because:
It contradicts Texas statute. Texas Government Code 311.005 requires each individual to be identified as either male or female for government records. The Texas Legislature also passed legislation mandating that local governments take every reasonable step to ensure females and males do not enter the private sex-separated space of the other when located on government property. Any ordinance that includes “sexual orientation” or “gender identity” is legally consistent with Texas law, risking legal exposure. The ordinance is materially inconsistent with federal law and recent U.S. Supreme Court opinions. The SOGI definitions jeopardize federal funding by signaling open defiance to federal agencies responsible for grants and program dollars. For example, Arlington’s recently secured $16 million federal grant for 2026 FIFA World Cup could be in jeopardy. The SOGI definitions will be weaponized by the radical left (who will likely ignore any disclaimers contained in Option #1) to use against people of faith and anyone with traditional values about biological reality. The definitions are vague, subjective, and easily manipulated – creating a powerful legal tool for activists to file complaints, have fines levied, and to intimidate and silence anyone with whom they disagree ideologically. If the ordinance is reinstated with “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” language or words, the Texas Values legal team will contact the Trump Administration directly about this matter and recommend that legal action be taken against the city. This issue has brought statewide and national criticism to the City of Arlington, and the vote by the council will be closely watched.
The December 9th meeting is NEXT TUESDAY and we need your help! Call Arlington Mayor Jim Ross and the City Council members and encourage them to remove the words “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” from the anti-discrimination ordinance, if they choose to reinstate the ordinance.
