Update! Texas Values Will Continue to Fight to Hold Austin ISD Accountable for Allowing Male in Female Restroom 

Austin, TX – August 3, 2026: Classes will begin soon in Austin ISD. One old issue still remains in the new school year: Austin ISD has not agreed to comply with the Texas Women’s Privacy Act. To date, it appears that Austin ISD has not responded to the Texas Attorney General’s request for documents that was sent last school year in Spring 2026. This could mean that there are even more violations occurring and the possibility of more violations in the future if Austin ISD does not affirm that they have put a policy in place to keep boys out of girls’ private spaces. Jonathan Saenz continues to be legal counsel for the family who brought the first case to the Texas Attorney General.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values said: 

“Austin ISD may think they can play hide and go seek but we will not rest until we seek justice for the girls at Austin High School who had to share the bathrooms and locker rooms with an older male student, against their will. The law is clear and we look forward to the Texas Attorney General holding Austin ISD accountable for violating the Texas Women’s Privacy Act.”
