Texas Values Statement on Planned Parenthood Lawsuit Against Texas

Austin, Texas – Today, Federal District Judge Lee Yeakel granted a temporary restraining order until April 13th regarding Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit against Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton. Planned Parenthood sued because Governor Abbott’s executive order temporarily halted abortions, and all other elective health procedures, in order to focus medical supplies on saving lives during the Coronavirus pandemic. Planned Parenthood, Whole Women’s Health, and other abortionists sought this temporary restraining order against Governor Abbott and Attorney General Paxton that would allow them to perform abortions while the Governor’s executive order to halt other elective surgeries is still in place.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Policy Advisor for Texas Values said: “As more people continue to die from the Coronavirus, Planned Parenthood chose to make a political statement and take more lives through abortion by suing the Governor and Attorney General who were trying to preserve medical supplies for those most in need.“
