Texas Values Signs on to Letter to US Department of Education to #SaveWomensSports

For Immediate Release

Austin, TX – February 27, 2023: Last week, Texas Values and 28 national organizations submitted a letter to the Department of Education on the issue of stopping men’s participation in women’s sports and the redefinition of “sex” in Title IX. The letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona asserts that “gender identity” is not covered under current Title IX regulations.

Some of the organizations who signed onto the letter include Family Research Council, The Heritage Foundation, and Family Policy Alliance.

Our President and attorney, Jonathan Saenz is listed as a signee on this letter representing Texas Values.

Our Director of Government Relations, Mary Elizabeth Castle, released this statement:

“Texas Values is proud to stand up to the Department of Education and teach them an important lesson on protecting women’s sports. Redefining “sex” in Title IX to include gender identity is biologically and legally incorrect; and it disenfranchises women. The Department of Education is only an agency, they cannot rewrite law or science. The rule changes to redefine “sex” must be stopped in order to protect women’s athletic achievements and their privacy.”

Texas Values is the leading organization on the issue of saving women’s sports in Texas.
