Texas Values In Courtroom of U.S. Supreme Court During Texas Abortion Clinic Case
Yesterday, Texas Values President and Attorney Jonathan Saenz was inside the U.S. Supreme Court during oral arguments for the Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt case, the challenge to Texas’ HB 2 which was passed by the Texas Legislature in 2013 with bi-partisan support of Texas lawmakers to enforce basic health and safety standards on abortion clinics.
Texas Values submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court for the case on behalf of Texas Values and 3801 Lancaster Film Project in support of upholding the HB 2 law. The award winning film, 3801 Lancaster: American Tragedy, is a documentary on abortionist Kermit Gosnell whose horrific practices and lack of health and safety standards led to the death, disease, and depression of women and children, born and unborn. Jonathan Saenz made this statement on yesterday’s oral arguments:
“It was clear that the motivation for HB 2, the horrific acts against women by abortionist Kermit Gosnell as highlighted in our legal brief, was an issue the liberal justices wanted to down play. They refused to even say the name “Gosnell” during oral argument even though Texas talked about his deadly clinic throughout the high Court proceedings. I predict Texas will win this case and it will be a Texas Independence Day for women that we will all remember.”
