Very few changes, most result from posts held last session by nonreturning Senators.
A few notables; Sen. Ogden will once again chair the powerful Finance committee, and Sen. Shapiro will again be the Chair for Education with Sen. Dan Patrick as Vice Chair.
Committee assignments are extremely important as the chair of the committee has the power to decide if a bill will receive hearing, if a bill will reecive a vote by the rest of the committee members. If the chair opposes a particular bill, the chair can effectively “kill” a bill in committee.
