MEDIA ADVISORY:  Save Women’s Sports (H.B. 25) Live Virtual Celebration as Law Takes Effect

AUSTIN, TEXAS—Today, Texas Values and other organizations will virtually gather at 10:00 A.M. CST to celebrate the Save Women’s Sports state law (H.B. 25) taking effect in Texas. H.B. 25 was sponsored by Representative Valoree Swanson and Senator Charles Perry. The live footage will be available on the Texas Values’ Facebook page. Texas Values will be able to share the Facebook live link with any interested media. In addition to the live program, Texas Values team members will also be available for comment once the event is concluded.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Senior Policy Advisor, released the following statement:

“Today is day of victory as Texas now has a law in place to protect female sports from biological males participating. We are pleased that Texas joins 8 other states in championing legislation that will save Women’s sports and protect the rights given to female athletes in Title IX.”

The Save Women’s Sports bill (H.B. 25) assures that the athlete’s sex on the birth certificate nearest at birth will determine whether a student plays in girls’ or boys’ sports in UIL (University Interscholastic League) sports. This legislation protects girls’ sports by making sure that biological males cannot compete unfairly in girls’ sports in high school and middle school in Texas public schools.
