Taylor, TX – Today, Texas Values submitted a Public Information Act Request to the Taylor City Council in order to increase transparency and find out more information behind the adoption of the anti-religious policies that keep Christians “out,” and Drag Queens “in” local Christmas parades.

You can find a copy of the request here.

This request comes on the same day that the Taylor City Council plans to meet and take another vote that is expected to make it harder for Christians to participate in the local Christmas parade that’s been held for over 50 years.

Last year, the City of Taylor implemented rules that kept Christians out of the city sponsored Christmas parade. However, many drag queens were featured in the Christmas parade. Many citizens of Taylor spoke out as the city continued to push policies that discriminated against Christian groups that hold sincerely held religious beliefs on marriage and sexuality by limiting their participation in city sponsored events.

Despite a large number of Taylor citizens showing up in opposition, the Taylor City Council, after having three packed house meetings on the issue since December, voted two weeks ago to adopt a controversial and unconstitutional pro-Drag Queen policy effectively canceling Christian voices.

Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney for Texas Values stated:

“The City of Taylor council members have completely lost touch with the area’s small-town, traditional faith and family values.  Allowing municipal staffers to short-circuit the democratic process and insert sexualized Drag Queens in front of kids for Christmas is a world class snub. Let’s hope the city council re-evaluates when Taylor citizens can actually see what their elected officials are saying in private.”

Texas Values believes that the citizens of Taylor deserve transparency from their elected officials regarding the policies put in place with which the majority of Taylor community members disagree. Texas Values has been on the front lines in Taylor fighting these anti-religious liberty policies.
