KING AND PRIEST ~ Jehoshaphat, King of Judah & Ahab, King of Israel & the priest, Micaiah

As I think about the Church Ambassador Network of Texas (TXCAN) building relationships with our legislators, this connection with the two kings and priest is especially interesting as we think about who our legislators go to for advice. Jehosphaphat asked Ahab to inquire of the Lord before they went to war against Ramoth Gilead. King Ahab gathered his prophets, 400 men, around him and asked them. They said, “Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king”. King Jehoshaphat wasn’t so sure about what the prophets were saying and asked for another prophet…it was Micaiah, one whom King Ahab hated because he never prophesied anything good, always evil. (2 Chronicles 18)
This event in the Bible does not end well because King Ahab did not listen to Micaiah and he was wounded in battle and died at sunset. King Jehoshaphat returned safely to his home in Jerusalem. King Jehoshaphat is not out of the woods yet. Jehu, the seer, went out to meet him and said, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?” Jehu also said, “some good is found in you, for you destroyed the Asherahs out of the land and have set your heart to seek God.”
The relationships between shepherds of the church and shepherds of government are critical as we seek to help them be “ministers for good”. (Romans 13:4) Who are our legislators going to when seeking advice? Please be praying how you get involved in this ministry. During the next special session in October, The Texas Church Ambassador Network will be taking pastors to Austin and afterwards will be visiting them in their districts.
BLESSINGS, Pastor Tovar & Juda
