Jonathan Saenz Recognized for Religious Freedom & Pro-life Legal Work

The Catholic Diocese of Austin recently sent a letter to its Central Texas supporters highlighting the contribution of Texas Values president, Jonathan Saenz. Earlier this summer we reported to you an incredibly important religious freedom and pro-life court victory that Mr. Saenz was a part of, on behalf of charitable nonprofit pro-life pregnancy care centers in the Austin area.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Austin, and Austin area Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) were represented by Liberty Institute and Mr. Saenz in a case that started while Mr. Saenz was still with Liberty Institute. Mr. Saenz continued to be involved in the case when he began leading Texas Values.  U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel ruled that theAustin city ordinance targeting the religious life-affirming groups is unconstitutional. The City of Austin failed to appeal the decision and so this outcome is now final and that fact was celebrated in a letter by the Catholic Bishop of Austin, Joe Vasquez in a very kind letter recognizing Mr. Saenz for his work on the case.

In conclusion, Bishop Vasquez said

“[I] pray that this victory motivates us to renew our commitment to protect religious liberty, and thank you for your dedication to build a culture of life and a civilization of compassion.” We agree and are so thankful for the many staff members of all Austin area pregnancy centers who will now continue to have the freedom to meet the needs of women every day with love, compassion, and the word of God.”
