Breaking! Second Special Session Begins, Women’s Privacy Act Passes 9-0 in Senate Committee on State Affairs

Austin, TX – August 15, 2025: Today, Governor Greg Abbott called a second special session that began at noon. Immediately after the Texas Senate adjourned, the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs held a public hearing for The Texas Women’s Privacy Act, (assigned SB 8). The Texas Senate voted 9-0 in favor of The Texas Women’s Privacy Act. The next step will be for the bill to be voted on the Texas Senate floor.

“Making sure that women’s privacy and dignity is protected in the state of Texas is an urgent issue. I am pleased that the Senate moved quickly to address this issue and that we have full support of the Texas House to pass the Texas Women’s Privacy Act”.
