Twitter Bans Austin Sex Ed Information Website

Austin, Texas – On the eve of a government Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) Meeting in Austin about proposed hyper-sexualized, radical pro-abortion, pro-LGBT sex education imported from Canada, Twitter has blocked access to a website with information for parents and concerned citizens hosted by Texas Values. The website, www.NoRadicalSexEd.com contains information about the disturbing nature of this new and proposed sex “education” and offers visitors a chance to sign a petition to stand with Texas Values against the proposed curriculum. To date, this petition has over 3,000 signatures and continues to grow despite the censorship from Twitter.

On Monday morning, Texas Values discovered the URL for the website had been blocked by Twitter. The message from Twitter states “This request looks like it might be automated. To protect our users from spam and other malicious activity, we can’t complete this action right now. Please try again later.”  This message appears on multiple variations of Tweets, none of which are automated. Even just including the link, with no other text, receives the same error.

When on a mobile device, Tweets with the link fail to send with no further explanation and remain in the account’s drafts section.

This ban took effect after Texas Values was able to successfully tweet about the website twice on Friday, and just 48 hours before a scheduled government meeting on the topic. The original tweets with the website are still available on our Twitter feed, here and here.

Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values said: “We know the truth of Austin ISD’s sex education is shocking, which is why Texas parents need to see it for themselves. Twitter should remove this ban immediately. Banning free speech, even temporarily, is a violation of the First Amendment.”

Texas Values has reported this ban to Twitter’s support team however, Twitter responded it could take days for a resolution.
