Texans Take to Airwaves to Protect Privacy in Showers, Restrooms, Locker Rooms
Two radio ads will begin airing this week in the Houston and Austin broadcast markets featuring Texans in support of a bill this special legislative session to keep men out of little girls’ showers, restrooms, and locker rooms.
“It makes me feel uncomfortable to think a boy could be in the same bathroom as me. I don’t even let my brother in there with me!” said Shiloh, one of the voices – a 10-year-old entering the fifth grade in a Texas public school, soon after the special legislative session concludes.
Shiloh appears in an ad with her father, Rob, who both live in the Dripping Springs ISD where an un-vetted bathroom policy was approved by the school board. This unexpected change motivated Shiloh to take action. She recently appeared before a Texas Senate committee to testify in favor of SB 3 by Sen. Lois Kolkhorst.

The second ad, to begin airing Aug. 1, features Angela Smith, who owns a 65-acre ranchette near Fredericksburg where she hosts a bed and breakfast, teaches horseback riding lessons, and mentors young girls. Smith is concerned that without a law to protect privacy that her students could be harmed.
“Senate Bill 3, the Texas Privacy Act, protects the freedom of private businesses like mine,” Smith said in her radio spot. “A majority of Texans do not want grown men in the girls’ bathroom – that goes for showers and locker rooms, too.”
